Volunteering with move

MOVE is always looking for passionate, hardworking and committed individuals who believe in making physical activity accessible for all members of our community!

What we offer:

  • Hands on experience with those living with a neurological impairment.

  • Experience in a clinical setting supporting members with their rehabilitation programs. This includes: baseline fitness testing, program development, and specific goal setting.

  • The skills acquired through volunteering with MOVE are an asset for those seeking entry into graduate programs such as Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy.

Ongoing volunteer Roles

Program Volunteer

Volunteers work weekly with individual clients to help them accomplish their fitness goals. This includes assisting members on/off of specialized adapted exercise equipment, assisting with range of motion exercises and passive stretching as well as ensuring members programs are adjusted as needed to account for member progression or regression. In this position you are expected to commit to one 3-4 hour shift/week supporting MOVEs members.

MOVE requires all volunteers to:

  • Have basic first aid and CPR-C

  • Complete a criminal record check

Student Co-op/Internship

MOVE accepts full and part-time Co-op students for fall, winter, spring and summer semesters. These positions are geared towards students looking to gain experience in their related fields of study (includes: Kinesiology, Recreation, Exercise and Wellness, Nursing, Health Education etc).
